I will tell you something about stories . . . They aren’t just entertainment. Don’t be fooled. They are all we have, you see, all we have to fight off illness and death.

Welcome to…
Club Mono has been created to give audiences access to new theatre by a fresh generation of Indian playwrights, and to give some of India’s finest emerging actors and directors a stage to tackle challenging original works.
Each month Club Mono will present up to 4 new works. Each performance will be a stand alone monologue of up to 20 minutes long, written and performed by an incredible array of professional artists..
Club Mono is a wonderful addition to the Mumbai Theatre Calendar. So, keep an eye out for the next performance
So many stories to tell.
With 2.7 BILLION people living on this planet we call home, it is unlikely that the theatre will every run out of stories to tell.
Club Mono has a mission to seek out stories from all corners of India and is destined to become a welcomed mainstay of the Mumbai (and beyond) theatre scene..
With its aim firmly entrenched in ‘Professional artists bringing new stories to a global audience‘, I believe India will be proud of the talent she has living in her very own back-yard.

Our Artists
Our inaugural group of Club Mono actors are graduates from our various training programs. CPA offers world class training for emerging artists and is proud of what our graduates achieve.
We will remain responsible to our graduates and maintain a Club ensemble size that will ensure members are kept suitably busy.
Club Mono is a platform for our graduates to also investigate Directing for the theatre. The Club’s mentor, Glenn Hayden, is on hand to assist and guide them in this craft and we are sure we will unearth some amazing new directors for the Indian Theatre Industry.
Our Scripts
We invite anyone from across India to write for Club Mono.
It is difficult for emerging playwrights to have their work produced and we intend Club Mono to be a fantastic platform for their creations to be seen.
The guidelines of writing for Club Mono are simple.
- Minimum 15 minutes and Maximum 30 minutes
- The Monologue must be a stand alone piece and not from a larger script
- The playwright must either be of Indian origin or have visited India.
Our Process
Club Mono will have a season once each month.
Up to four new monologues will be presented showcasing new writing, a new cast and 4 new incredible stories.
The monologues will be written by playwrights from across India and will be stand-alone pieces, and not taken from larger plays.
Club Mono will present stories that are unique, surprising, and quirky and that tells the epic stories of everyday lives.

If we listen intently, every moment is a story with unfolding beginnings, middles and endings. Monologue Theatre is an endeavor to share some of these moments through the lense of one person.

There are many individual stories which are untold and which the world needs to know. Monologue theatre is such a powerful way of telling these story,

Storytelling puts your imagination at work & a monologue is that deep dive into the emotion of an individual.
Paras
Monologue theatre speaks directly to the audiences, the thoughts that are spoken by the actors hit right through the conscious of the listener ,creating an impact in the audiences hearts .
For the actors it is challenging and equally thrilling
Anusha
Bedtime stories, friends describing intense matches, ghost stories discussed at sleepovers, are all versions of monologues we are constantly exposed to.
Monologue theatre is an exploration of one of the oldest forms of story telling.

I paint, I act, I teach and I make. The world suffers without our stories and we are the story makers.
Amitoj
Story telling gives an audience a chance to hear characters from a world where we tend to ignore the joys and sufferings of other human beings. A monologue can give you a glimpse into your very own soul.
Yash
The art of storytelling will be alive till the time humans inhabit any planet in the universe because this is what makes us experience and understand us as a society , as an endeavour , as a force , as an emotion …. better . It’s what inspires and churns out that wallop of empathy off your guts while you witness your own self in somebody else’s shoes.

Monologue theatre for me is an intimate experience, and a very personal one. At some point or another, we’ve had someone narrate a story to us – as children, as adults. And we get the opportunity to listen and visualize. So while we are listening to someone else’s emotions and feelings, we are making it our own, in our minds. It gives us space to get lost through our senses and for some moments, just be.
